Our Chausses leggings are based on 12th century maille (colloquially, chainmail) leg defenses. Not many tangible examples of armor from this time still survives, but this design is based off of manuscript illustrations of the period that featured an open back tied to the leg, rather than the "stocking" variation that is commonly seen. A layer of linked chain rings was layered over a leather backing, then likely fastened to a belt around the waist to stay suspended.
Our model is 5'9 and wearing a size 1X.
• 85% Recycled Polyester, 15% Spandex
• Moisture-wicking
• UPF 50+ sun protection
• Made in the USA
Our leggings are created with performance fibers derived from post-consumer plastics. Compared to making "virgin" polyester, these recycled yarns offset using new petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process.
